Ukraine to Receive €380 Million from Denmark for Critical Infrastructure Restoration

On April 23, 2024, the Ukrainian government signed a memorandum with Denmark for financial assistance amounting to €380 million aimed at restoring critical infrastructure, particularly facilities utilizing renewable energy sources.
This agreement is part of Ukraine's broader strategy to transition to green energy and reduce dependence on traditional energy resources. The funds will be directed towards the reconstruction and modernization of energy facilities damaged due to military actions, as well as the development of new renewable energy projects.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that this assistance will facilitate the swift recovery of the energy infrastructure and enhance its resilience to potential threats. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration with international partners in rebuilding the country and implementing modern technologies.
Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko added that the funds will enable the implementation of several projects aimed at integrating renewable energy sources into the national power grid, which is a key component of Ukraine's energy security.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen reaffirmed his country's commitment to supporting Ukraine in the restoration and modernization of its infrastructure, as well as in the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies.
The implementation of projects financed through the Danish grant is expected to commence in the second half of 2024. The focus will be on regions most affected by the conflict, aiming to ensure stable energy supply and create conditions for sustainable development.
This initiative is part of broader European efforts to support Ukraine in its pursuit of energy independence and sustainable development, aligning with the goals of the European Green Deal.
